The award-winning Kaldi franchise formula

In 2021, we won the NFV Franchise Trophy, which recognized Kaldi as the best franchise formula in terms of cooperation, quality and profitability. We are of course enormously proud of this and the trophy reflects the success stories of our franchisees.

What makes our franchise formula so special? Our formula stands for sustainable growth and moving with the evolving (online) market. We support you during your first steps as a franchisee and continue to do so when you are up and running. Good cooperation between franchisor and franchisee ensures the success of your business. Therefore, we value respect, transparency and communication.

In 7 steps to your own espresso bar

  • 1. Request the free information package

Request the free information package and find out for yourself whether the culture and mentality within Kaldi suits you. You will receive a registration form which we would like to receive back filled out.

    2. Getting acquainted

After we have received your personal profile, we would like to invite you for an initial introductory meeting. During this meeting we will discuss the background of the franchise concept and the structures of the organization. There will also be a general discussion about turnover, costs and margins.

    3. Going in-depth

In the second interview, the finances are deepened using an operating model developed in-house. This operating model clarifies the system of budgeting within Kaldi. By reviewing the budget at home you will gain a better understanding of the quantities.

    4. Tying the knot

Then there will be a time to tie the first knot in this process. Are you prepared to agree to a letter of intent with Kaldi? You can easily make this decision now because you have gained sufficient insight into the concept and the figures.

  • 5. Time for a business plan

In follow-up meetings with the accountant, among others, you will create your own business plan based on the business location data known to you. This business plan also serves as the base for the application for financing at a bank.

    6. Looking for a location

We start looking for a suitable location. When your location is found and your funding request is approved then the signing of the franchise contract is in order.

    7. Opening the doors

Now it really begins: you follow the training program that prepares you for entrepreneurship. An interesting learning path with probably many new insights for you. After that, you will open the doors of your own Kaldi. Are you ready for it?

Why start a franchise business?

A franchise is a relatively safe way of doing business. Of all start-up entrepreneurs, about 65% quit within three years. Among franchise entrepreneurs, this percentage is only 15% (Source: Franchise+). This is because franchising gives more security in most cases.

Franchising involves choosing to do business under an already existing brand, such as Etos, Subway, Bagels & Beans or Albert Heijn. The advantage of this is that you benefit from existing brand recognition and successes within the franchise formula. The entrepreneur is the boss of the store and can, to a certain extent, run his own business. However, some things are fixed in advance, such as the appearance of the store, logos and slogans.

Definition Franchise Entrepreneurship:
“Franchising is a close cooperation between legally independent entrepreneurs, the franchisor and the franchisee, who offer products and services to customers using a common name and with a uniform appearance.”

Due to flexible employment contracts and uncertain pensions, among other things, people are increasingly opting for entrepreneurship. In addition, we are constantly looking for new challenges and opportunities to develop ourselves. The number of entrepreneurs in the Netherlands therefore continues to grow every year in every age category. From millennials to Generation Z, the dream of starting your own business is present in every generation. So one thing is clear: You are never too young or too old for entrepreneurship!
